The referral period for Opportunity and Change ended on the 30th September 2022. Opportunity and Change is an employability project for people aged 16+ facing severe and multiple disadvantage, delivered by a partnership of community based organisations across D2N2 (Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire).

The project is part of the Building Better Opportunities (BBO) Programme, funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and The National Lottery Community Fund.

We accept self-referrals from individuals as well as from third parties/referring agencies.

Eligibility Criteria

To access Opportunity and Change, you must be experiencing at least two of the following issues when the referral is made:

      • Being homeless or vulnerably housed
      • Substance or alcohol misuse issues
      • At risk of offending or reoffending
      • Mental health issues
      • Domestic Abuse


You must also be able to prove you have a Right to Work in the UK and are unemployed or economically inactive. Evidence of this includes:

      • Passport
      • Full Birth Certificate
      • Letter from Jobcentre Plus that includes NI Number and DOB
